De Ari

about Mu-ah
an eccentric female
whos inner voice
not yet heard
stories to tell
courage to fuel
parables to set forth
visions to re-create
through the almighty's gates
east to west
north to south
sunrise to sunset
i close my eyes
praying that one day
life could be a better place

If you see someone dying would you run?
02.28.05 (12:05 pm)   [edit]
On Saturday, I was commuting from school and as usual I feel asleep on the train. One stop away from my destination, I was awakened to turmoil. I shot up half asleep and unconsciously walked to the crowd. They were surrounding a woman who had collapsed on the floor. She began to vomit bile and foam-like discharge. In agony her right hand began to pull on her shirt as she kept touching the area around her heart. Her eyes were staring at something unknown. As I stared at this lady experience death knocking at her door, she began to have a seizure. What bugged me out was that her seizure stopped and she attempted to get up in the middle of her madness meanwhile minutes prior to was on the verge of going into a coma. Other MTA riders questioned if she spoke Spanish. So, a girl went near the woman and asked her how she was feeling and she mumbled the word, “Diabetic.” The only type of sugar that I could offer was Orbit gum, which I quickly resorted to when I heard her health condition.

Anyhow, I found it strange that this lady overcame death. Technically, she was supposed to die because she didn’t have medical attention for at least 20 minutes of convulsions. From your perspective what made her live? What would you have done to help her? I was amazed of how many people left the train when I woke up. They simply didn’t want to get involved because it was none of their business. Do you think that’s wrong? Shouldn’t they make it their business especially when no one is around to give her proper medical attention? Do you believe in survival of the fittest or supporting humanity?

she can’t sleep
puff puff pass
maybe after this last
or after my stash
the nights still young
don’t wanna miss none
cause the moment I get home
im still gonna be a toy solider

aim for the American dream
sound educated
drive a luxury car
mow your front lawn
paint your picket fences white
don’t put the accent mark on Lopez
speak English
cut our native tongue
only listen to Hector Lavoe indoors
cause you don’t want the neighbors
to think we’re from the Bronx.

see the moment as reality
envision the future in dreams
how do souls return to their birthplace
leaving behind the past
moving towards the future?
